Don't Miss This Saturday: Sonoma Valley Wine Market. Promo code AND Two Chances to Win Tickets!

One of my favorite things about the holiday season? All the wine events, specials, bundles and promotions. You need wine for your table, entertaining, and if you have lucky friends, for gifts.

Regular followers will recall my ongoing mantra about wine events needing to evolve.  I am sick of big wine walk around tastings with 500 wines to try,  and I am  getting over driving all viagra cialis online over the place for bracelet events. Oddly, many wine regions DON”T do a walk around tasting (Dry Creek Valley did a great one once, and stopped.)

An ideal, interesting event: Gather wineries together in a modest size in one place, let me taste the wines AND if I like them, BUY them. Ideally, be able to take them home right away, but for some reason the ABC seems to think that is evil…even though I can go to Safeway and fill up my cart. Unless you have a special permit, or are on property like Ft Mason that is Federal, not State.

Introducing the Sonoma Valley Wine Market Sonoma Valley Grapes and Wine(And Save $10!)

At this unique venue, you’ll have unprecedented access to over 35 Sonoma Valley wineries all in one place. Gathered together are some of Sonoma Valley’s most celebrated wineries – many small production or closed to the public – for an opportunity taste and purchase new releases, special collections and hard-to-find vintages.

Enjoy special wine and holiday food pairings prepared by El Dorado Kitchen, ESTATE, Santé, the girl + the fig and Truffle Gateau while learning about holiday meal planning and pairing from sommeliers: Christopher Sawyer, Gillian Balance and James Dick.

Wine Country Photo Booths will be there to capture festive pictures owhile you enjoy the event. Plus, you can  have your wine purchases packed and shipped to your home by Premier Wine Shipping. Start your holiday celebrations in true Sonoma style at Sonoma Valley Wine Market!

Tickets are only $35 a piece, less than a day of Tasting Room Fees and lunch! Event is 12-4 this Saturday December 3rd at the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall.

Great Fun & Education this weekend in Sonoma Valley at the First Annual “Sonoma Valley Reserve”

As an associate member of the SVVGA I am delighted about this weekend's Sonoma Valley Reserve, a new wine event that offers participants the exclusive opportunity to see Sonoma Valley’s classic wineries in a completely new light, has been set for Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15, 2011. This inaugural event, a series of themed daytrips around the region, will showcase rare offerings and hidden gems of Sonoma Valley wine destinations, many of which are seldom open to the public.

The first annual Sonoma Valley Reserve will feature a schedule of themed tours that take guests on a treasure hunt throughout the appellation. Each tour includes four winery visits, comfortable transportation by California Wine Tours and a wine country picnic lu

nch featuring fresh local ingredients. In addition, on Saturday the tours end at the Sonoma Valley Reserve Marketplace where wines – many not available elsewhere – will be available for purchase.

There are some very cool tours ranging from “Meet the Winery Rockstar Tour” “Sparkling Wines Tour” “Limited Production Wines Tour” “Sommelier Tour” are just a few of the great offers.

Tickets for Sonoma Valley Reserve are extremely limited (indeed some tours are sold out) and are  $85 for one day or $135 for two days. Sonoma Valley Reserve ticketholders can depart from Sonoma or San Francisco. For an additional nominal fee ($30), round-trip motor coach transportation from San Francisco and Mill Valley will also be available. For information and tickets click here or call 707-935-0803.

What better way to spend the day this weekend, riding around Wine Country in a  comfy bus, tasting great wines xenical side effects and food, meeting fellow wine lovers, and learning and having fun at the same time – sign me up!

cheers!

Part 8 of the “12 Days of Wine Christmas” Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers Membership

Welcome back! I hope you are enjoying the series and suggestions. If its not apparent; I am trying to make recommendations for wine gifts that are a bit unique. The usual bevvy of items like stemware, wine fridges, openers etc all still exist, and are great ideas, but you can flip open any catalog and find those. (Don’t hesitate to email or post questions or ask for recommendations.)

This one is a bit localized I will admit, but if you are a Bay area resident who frequents Sonoma Valley regularly and purchases a fair amount of wine, this is a great benefit that actually would pay for itself, as well as offer access.

There are a variety of Membership levels in the Sonoma Valley Vintners & Growers (SVVGA):

Vintner Member
Grower Member
Associate Member
Culinary Associate Member
Individual Associate Member

If you have a business that would benefit from networking and exposure in the wine industry, the Associate and Culinary Associate are good options.

For consumers, the Individual Associate Member is the ticket. Its $250 a year. Is that worth it?

Let’s do some math:  The $250 membership gives you industry level discounts of 30-50% off wine. If we say an average bottle is $25, at 30% discount, and you bought 50 bottles a year, you would save $375. Throw in discounts to tickets to events during the year and this becomes a smart investment, not a cost. Not to mention you get to rub elbows with Vintners and Growers during the year at mixers and parties.

Give your wine lover the bragging rights to flash the card around, or buy for yourself to save some money when buying wine, and attend great events, like an insider.

Cheers!
